Back Story:
The shimmering stars flooded the pitch black skies. The clouds slowly drifted past the the moon, which floated in the air like a gaping hole. The stench of death lingered in the air. A boy laid there on the floor in a sea of blood, all alone, or was he? Of course he wasn't. He was surrounded by a mountain of corpses, cold, breathless, dead. A man approached him and loaded his gun. He lifted his arm and pointed the gun at the boy. He knew that the people were slaughtered by someone, but who? The boy looked at his bloodstained hands and stared back at the man. It was obvious that the damage was all done by the boy. All the man needed to do was grip the trigger, and it was done. Yet, he couldn't. He hesitated as the bloodshot eyes stared back at him, curled up on the ground. The eyes of the demon glared at him, as though staring straight at his soul. Those eyes...He has seen them before...Somewhere...He felt like the boy had a further purpose in life...At that moment, he knew he was staring straight at the eyes of an true Assassin. The boy, out of sheer exhaustion, fainted. The man holstered his gun and picked the boy up and slowly returned home.
Five years later, the boy, now named Strafe, was a capable assassin. At only the age of 9, he had mastered 6 different types of martial arts and had discovered how to control his..."ability". He ability allowed him to break through walls, yet, it allowed him to float in the air, weightlessly, what was his ability? The ability to manipulate Gravity. A fearsome power it certainly was, if he loses control, another accident like the one that happened when he was 4, could happen all again. Nero, the man that found him, raised him like his own son. He taught Strafe all he knew about being an assassin. Together, they went on assassination missions. Soon, they had made themselves infamous with the name of The Devilish Duo.
On one very occasion, Strafe's 57th mission to be exact, a terrible event occurred. The plan that Nero had come up with failed terribly, he was spotted and gunned down by the enemy, no matter how strong Strafe was, he was outnumbered 100:1. Nero's last gifts to Strafe were his two most prized pistols, Behemoth and Leviathan. Although greatly outnumbered, Strafe's anger overpowered all 100 men who came at him. He swatted them like flies and crushed them like ants, until nothing but the sound of flowing blood could be heard. Once again, Strafe was all on his own... This time, he had the skills to survive on his own, he was deeply grateful to his 'adoptive' parent.
Within the next few years, Strafe, now living by the name 'Dante', became one of the most infamous assassins and gained the title 'Reaper's Apprentice'. Although having such a title, he is often underestimated due to his small build, which in turn, often gets him targeted by his own employer, to his annoyance. Which is the reason why he doesn't trust anyone.
Story:
In Fortuna, a city floating above the abyss, man has his back to the wall. He is paralyzed in fear. Cold sweat drips from his forehead and onto the floor. His mouth is wide open, yet he's speechless. Eyes staring in fear at the masked demon he stands before.
"P-Pl-Please d-don't kill me! I'll d-do anything you w-want! If it's money y-you're after, you can have it! Here! Take all of i-it! Please d-don't ki-kill me!"
The demon gazed at the man with his fiery eyes. He slowly walked towards the man and whispers in his ear
"I live to kill and kill to live."
"W-wait! D-dont! I'll d-"
A loud bang reverberated to the skies. The man squealed no more. The demon got onto his motorcycle and drove off. Leaving the lifeless corpse sleeping in the alley.
He stopped by a building, looked around, and proceeded into it. As soon as he entered, all eyes fell upon him. He ignored the crowd and went into the lift.
As soon as the elevator doors opened, he could see a man sitting behind a desk. He walked forward and the man said
"Has he been taken care of?"
"Affirmative" As he replied, he put the human heart that he held in his hands on the desk.
"Haha! Well good job Dante! You have done well!"
"My reward?"
"About that... Boys!"
As the man spoke, 5 men appeared from behind Dante, each wielding guns.
"Let's just say you won't be leaving this room...Alive that is..."
Dante look around the room, into each and every man's eyes. He smiled and said
"Thanks for the reward"
He leaped into the air and drew two pistols.
"Kill him now!" The man exclaimed.
The 5 men desperately fired at Dante. It was raining bullet shells. Nothing could be seen but bright flashes. With the odds 5 to 1, they thought that this battle were to their favour. As soon as Dante landed on the ground, all 5 men collapsed.
"Reinforcements! Get the reinforcements!" The man shrieked in fear.
More and more armed men flooded into the room.
"I'm sorry, you're to generous, but I can't accept any more rewards." Dante said with a grin on his face.
As he said that he leaped out through the windows.
"Chase him! I want his head on my table! Don't let him escape!" The man shouted with anger.
As Dante fell from the 40th floor, he stared into the open sky, with wind scraping past his face. All seemed so calm within this chaotic situation. Gradually, his fall began to slow down, as if, defying gravity. He landed on his two feet and walked to his motorcycle. Soon, he could hear the revving of engines and the shouts of men exclaiming "Don't let him escape!" He started up his bike and sped off into the road. As he was racing through the streets he could see 2 cars slowly catching up. He could have easily destroyed both of them but he was more in the mood for a chase. Speeding up and making sudden turns, he had hoped to shake them off but with no success. Suddenly, an idea sprung into his head and he smirked with joy. He accelerated straight through the road, without making a single turn. Soon, the men chasing him in the cars realized what he was up to.
"Is he that fearless or is he just a freaking psychopath!" One man said as Dante was about to speed off the floating city.
He leaped off the city still on his bike and plummeted down into the unknown. While falling, he stuck his hand into one of his pockets and pulled out a round device. It was glowing bright blue and had a button on it. It was given to him by someone close to him, who said to use it when the time feels right, and destiny would take it from there. He pressed the button and threw the device below and there was a bright flash. Dante looked down to see a portal. He knew nothing about where or what it would lead to, but he was always looking for an adventure. He plunged through the portal and a bright white light flashed before his eyes.
Before he knew it, he was on solid ground. There was sprawling green grass everywhere, much in contrast to the industrialized city of Fortuna. Out in the distance he could barely make out something. It was a small house or a tavern. Either way, Dante got back on his motorcycle and drove towards it.
