    Soldeh's Weekly Free Game Tip

Post by Sold Out on Sat May 14, 2011 9:42 am

Welcome to Soldeh's Daily Weekly Game Tip (Or in short: swfgt).

Some of you might wonder what to do with their computer-time after they quit this horrible money-sucking excuse for an MMO, so I am here to offer you some games. It might not really be daily, because it will depend on my time, but I'll do my best. I'll offer you stuff that definitely is better than AQW content-wise and definitely is really free. Some will be down-load only and some will be flashgames.

Please put your comments in the Comments Thread

    Archive (chronological)

    Today's Game: Knytt Stories

Knytt Stories is a very lovable jump'n'run game which I've been playing for over a year now. Download only, but also only a few MB big. No installation required. :>

It is a one-man project by someone called "Nifflas". The original storyline is that there is a machine that destroys our hero Juni's home. First you need to get skills like the double jump so you can destroy it. The area to explore is quite big.

Now the real charm of this game are two things:

    • The really nice controls: You will get used to them fast and they are very well rounded.
    • The huge amount of custom made stories.

    About the custom made stories:
Since the game has got a very easy-to-use level creator and by now also a community which made a vast amount of "tilesets" (skins), there are a lot of good stories made by other people. When I get bored, I just get me some new ones.

You can always them at http://knyttlevels.com/

    Here's a trailer for a little fan-story called "Rainfall".

    Today's Games: Epic Battle Fantasy

You. Have. To. Try. These. More than anything else.

"Epic Battle Fantasy" is a really well thought-out singleplayer fantasy RPG series (Flashgame). They have turn-based fighting, look way better than AQW and have the best RPG gameplay I have ever seen. Oh, and did I mention that it is *really* free, unlike some other games. *cough cough*

The first two don't have much of a story, while the third is a full RPG with quests, achievements, bosses, swords, magic, demons, chainsaws, pirates, robots, tanks, Pokemon (lolwut?), nukes and giant satellite laser cannons. During the game you will have to plan your moves.

Parts 1 and 2 are a series of fights until you reach the final boss and are way harder than part 3, but they are all *very* good.
Part 3 is the most awesome part: This one actually has got a story, a world you can explore, hours of gameplay, a save-game system, et cetera, et cetera.

There are a list of reasons why you should really give this game a shot:

    • The best RPG gameplay of all time.
    • A huge amount of items and skills.
    • An amazing music score (Just listen to the main menu for a minute D:)
    • A lot of very funny jokes ("I used my fapping arm for this attack!")
    • Did I mention the fact that you have a satellite laser?
    • Minigames
    • Achievements (a.k.a. Medals), which unlock stuff
    • Characters from video games and Anime
    • It's free!

I personally have played this game for the last 2 days and I was not bored for as much as a second. For the love of god, there you need to try this. You'll have the most intense fights a game has ever offered and you'll laugh more than once. Just click new game, choose normal difficulty and enjoy. Because there's no way you won't.

All of these games were made by a duo consisting of Matt Roszak and Phyrnna (HalcyonicFalconX). Matt made a lot of the game - coding and jokes included. HalcyonicFalconX made the perfect music. She also is an artist, apparently.

I recently finished part 3 and the final boss fight was the most epic fight I ever had in a game. And I play many games.

EBF 4 is currently in production. And it can only get better, these two are an (like the game's names imply) an epic team.

    Today's Game: Soldat

Sub asked for a multiplayer game and here is one.

Not as good as Knytt Stories and EBF3 in my opinion, but still good. It's download only and needs to be installed - and actually a fun game to play at your school computer in secrecy. Most people know this game because they played it at school some time. :>
They'll ask for a random donation on the startup screen which unlocks some beta features, but they won't shove ads to do it in your face.
I'll quote the game-makers' homepage for the description this time:

"Soldat is an exciting unique side-view multiplayer action game. Played by hundreds of players at this moment. It takes the best from games like Liero, Worms, Quake and Counter-Strike and gives you fast action gameplay with tons of blood and flesh. Little ragdoll soldiers fight against each other on 2D battle arenas using a deadly military arsenal. This is what multiplayer was invented for.

Pure fun, addictive kill'em all gameplay.

    • Fun with physics based environment
    • Over 18 weapons available for killing
    • Play with friends and thousands of players
    • 7 game modes that will keep you hooked for hours
    • 64 amazing maps
    • Game editors for the creative
    • Achievements (a.k.a. Medals), which unlock stuff
    • Join the ever growing friendly community creating mods, maps, scripts and tools
    • It's free! (optional payed bonuses)"

At least they stick to the truth: They ask for a donation in the game startup screen and there are almost no features to be unlocked. Just little details like coloring your Jet-pack flames etc.

    Today's Games: High-Speed Flashgames

    Warning, these games are fast.

Okay, guys, no world-changing games of epicness today, but surely some fast games that are deffo fun to play. They might not keep you hooked like the other things, but I hope you'll like. Making screenshots for games this fast is a horrendous task.

First game: Dragon Age Legends [Remix]

    http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/570742

You play this game entirely with your mouse and you use your sword/ axe to just slash through your enemies. You basically never stop moving, even though you theoretically could. Hack'n'slash at it's best.

The soundtrack might not throw you off the chair like in EBF or TH, but it's not bad.

    ________________________________________________________________________

Second game(s): Sydney & Miami Shark

    http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/533302 <- Sydney Shark

    http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/513760 <- Miami Shark

Okay, this one is a lot of plain stupid fun. You are controlling a shark. You bite with A and swim with the arrow keys, and you just *destroy* everything. Eat people, explode boats, eat whales, explode buildings, pull down flying airplanes and way more stupid random fun with many WTF!? moments I won't spoiler. :>

    Shaaaaaaarrrrrrk!

    ________________________________________________________________________

    Third game: Ultimate Crab Battle

    http://mausland.de/showswf/455

My inner Touhou nerd sayz: LET'S DANMAKUUUUUUUUU!

Basically, you are fighting a giant mechanized crab with an infinite amount of weapons while riding a shark and shooting it with lazers and rockets and guns. Sounds like your average day at work.
