    Here's a lil brain tester.

An automatic light switches on at 18:00, remains on for a whole number of minutes, then switches off and remains off for three times as long as it was on. Then it switches on again, repeats the cycle with the same periods as before and continues. It is seen to be off five seconds before 18:11, to be on five seconds after 21:03 and on again at 22:15. Was it on or off at 22:18? Give your reasons.

    Interpretation of given info=
e.g. initial time 18:00 ----(after remaining turned on)18:x----- (after it remained turned off)18:4x----
where x = amt of time it was on initially.

    (#of cycles /hr not mentioned)

*teh; meh is finding a flaw in wording of the question. It's quite difficult to answer ur question with the limited info u provided. Clarify if the "It is seen to be off five seconds" or "to be on five seconds" and so forth are inclusive of the given condition of the cycle (cuz it really wont make sense if it did) or simply an external factor. If the latter is the case, the question needs to provide the # of cycles of on/off per hour. After that getting to the answer is like *snap* 1. .2 ...3. boom.

No, the question is entirely do-able with the wording given.
If you have a heart for mathematics then maybe you'll ponder over the question, and maybe you'll discard the topic and look for something else. Either suits me. But trust me, it's a question I managed to do after hours of thinking. Yep it hurts, but hey it's good to feel you accomplished something.
